Finding Inspiration in Every Turn

The Kafuta functional VDC started as far back as 1988. Through sports Mr. Colley the pioneer together with Mass Jallow who became the First Interim VDC Chairman and Landing Sanyang of Sibijangoto formed the First VDC. After two years, their term expired and a proper functional VDC was established at a Congress where Famara OM Colley was elected as the First VDC Chairman in 1990. Under the Alkaloship of Ba-Yahya Bojang of Kanyanya. There were before the establishment of the VDC a group of dedicated youths who run the affair of the village without being elected because there was No organized body to run the village.

Our Story

After some decade of a stagnant VDC which were power, the elders and the then VDC members felt that there is a need for change as generation and technological advancement emerges. The elders therefore, selected few individuals whom they built trust in them to run the affairs of the development of the Village to serve as Executive of the VDC and later adjust two representatives from each Kabilo.

This was done as arranged by the elders but a fraction of the Village who called themselves as Concern Citizens claimed that the VDC was not constituted properly. This has led to commotion and eventually Brikama Area Council had to dissolve the VDC.

In 2021, a Village congress was made through the Alkalo of the Village. Two representatives (a male and a female) were selected from each Kabilo and the new Executive was formed at the Congress.
